Did you know that the happiest country in the world also plays a leading role as a congress host country? Let’s take a look at the data.
1. For the seventh year in a row, Finland has been named the happiest country in the world by the annual United Nations World Happiness Report, holding the top title since 2018:
2. Renowned for its breathtaking landscapes, cutting-edge infrastructure, and warm hospitality, Finland also ranks among the world’s leading congress destinations. In the latest global ranking by the Union of International Associations (UIA), released in June 2025, Finland secured 15th place worldwide β up one position from the previous year.
The UIA ranking placed the United States, Belgium, and Italy in the top three spots. Among the Nordic countries, Finland continues to lead the pack, with Sweden ranking 17th, Norway 19th, and Denmark 22nd.
In the city-level comparison, Helsinki also performed strongly, ranking 14th globally as a congress destination.
3. Moreover, Finland’s innovative spirit and commitment to sustainability also make it a top choice for companies and associations seeking to make a positive impact in their meetings and conferences.
No wonder that every year more and more participants attend congresses organised in Finland:
